‘Heaven has gained a savage centrehalf’

-

THE team Benny Reilly helped vanquish in the league semi final on Saturday has said its shocked by the death of a man many of the players knew well.

St Mary’s Ardee players wished their Mairtin’s counterparts well for the final in a downpour after the game with some added handshakes for Benny.

‘Some lads actually hugged each other as they know each other from early football years and friendships.

‘One guy that got a few extra hugs and handshakes was one Brendan “Benny” Reilly because of his connections with Ardee.

‘With Benny’s links with John Mitchels he was well known around Ardee and had a lot of friends and family in the area,’ a Mary’s statement explained.

‘Unfortunately the heavens stayed open after the game and took our dear friend Benny. A true life gent.

‘Ardee St Marys would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the Reilly family and also to Benny’s teammates at Naomh Martins and previous ones at John Mitchels.

‘Heaven has gained a savage centre half!’
