Community Service

-

A man who only attended three of his 13 community service appointments has been fined € 350 at Drogheda District Court.

Anthony Butterly (22) The Boulevard, Grange Rath had been ordered to do 200 hours of community service in lieu of a five month sentence on April 7th.

The court heard Butterly attended three of the necessary 13 dates and has not attended any since June.

The solicitor for the defence said employment was the reason for non attendance. She said he sometimes works up to 60 hours a week.

Gardaí said the community service days were changed to Saturdays to facilitate him and he still didn’t turn up.

Judge John Coughlan imposed a € 350 fine and gave the defendant three months to pay.
