Long distance arrivals for Tony and Dina

- By HUBERT MURPHY Tony and Dina on their wedding day.

LOCAL couple Tony and Dina Saurin enjoyed the celebration of a lifetime to mark their 60th wedding anniversary - when some special guests arrived into the room at the d Hotel from America and Australia.

Dina, a Keegan from Congress Avenue, and Tony, from Bredin Street, were married on September 2, 1957 in St Mary’s, enjoying their reception in the Gwent.

Dina ran her own business - Dina’s - a shop at the bottom of Barrack Lane, for 34 years while Tony was a skilled carpenter and spent time working in England and America. Dina still does her bit for charity and loves helping out in the Enable Ireland shop.

They had four sons, Gerry, Alan, Ronan (R.I.P) and Dermot and among those who helped celebrate their big day were the family and extended family, including grandchildren, while son, Alan, and his wife Ann and friend Pauline travelled all the way from Australia and Lara, who travelled from America just to be there for the night.

Music was by Paddy McGarry and many of the talented Keegan/Saurin descendants helped out with great music and songs. John and all the management and staff in the d Hotel helped make it a truly wonderful night.
