Newfield man heads up Beatles Day in Dublin on November 4

-

NEWFIELD man Stephen Kennedy is again organising the annual Beatles Day in Dublin.

It will take place on Saturday, November 4th and will be at the Workman’s Club in Dublin city centre.

The events on the day will include a two set show from The Rockits. They perform at the Cavern Club in Liverpool every weekend and they really know how to throw a party. The first set in the show will be a selection of songs from The Beatles and the second set will be the ‘Hits of the 60s’ - songs from The Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Monkees - and more!

There will also be a performance of Stephen’s play John Lennon’s Last Day . John Lennon’s Last Day has had sold-out runs in Dublin (New Theatre), Belfast (Black Box Theatre) and Berlin (ACUD Theatre). It was also broadcast on BBC Radio 2 to mark the 75th anniversary of John Lennon’s birth. This is the first time the play has been performed in Dublin in five years.

And a competition to find the person in Ireland who knows the most about The Beatles – The Beatle Brain of Ireland - is also taking place on the day.

Tickets for Beatles Day are now on sale. For more information – www.facebook.com/ DublinBeatlesFestival. Tickets on sale at – www.eventbrite.ie

The theme of this year’s event is to raise awareness around men’s mental health and all proceeds will go to the Drogheda branch of The Samaritans.

The festival will culminate with a show at Droichead Arts Centre featuring one of Ireland’s top stand-up comics making a return to Drogheda after two sell out shows in 2016, Deirdre O Kane. Her show is on Sunday October 15 at the Droichead Arts Centre at 8pm. Tickets €15/€10.
