when Leah Hoey ran through their backline before offloading to Emma Singleton who calmly slid the ball past Caoimhe McQuillian 2-2 to 0-4.

Fechins were out of the traps quickly and almost netted a goal but for a superb stop by Una Pearson in keeping out a Rachel Kinch piledriver.

Kilkerley/’Hill then took a firm grip on proceedings when Nicole Hanratty took advantage of a mix up in the Fechin’s defence to palm the ball to the net in the 52nd minute to lead 3-6 to 0-7. The south Louth side did add four points in a frantic finale but they never looked as if they could get the goal that they desperately needed against a well organised defence which was well marshalled by the superb Blanaid Callan. DOWDALLSHILL/KILKERLEY: Emma Singleton 2-1, Emily Norton 0-3, Nicole Hanratty 1-0, Carrie Keenan, Caragh Brady 0-1 each.

ST FECHINS: Rachel Kinch 0-6, Sarah Moore, Hazel Haughney 0-2 each, Hayley McDonnell 0-1.
