DUNDALK GAELS

WE extend our sincere sympathy to the Reilly family and Naomh Mairtin club on the death of Brendan Reilly last weekend. Brendan played against us in a recent Cardinal O’Donnell Cup match and we were due to renew rivalry in a championship semi-final this weekend

There was disappointment for us in last Saturday’s O’Donnell Cup semi-final against Dreadnots at Pairc na nGael. Played in atrocious weather, the game was even enough in the first half, but Dreadnots pulled away for a comfortable win after the interval.

The juniors’ bid for a place in the championship final was foiled by St Fechin’s on Tuesday night last. Played at Termonfeckin, Peter Fee’s team made a bold bid in the final quarter after being five points down. Fechin’s got the final score to win by two points.

It was the team’s first defeat in seventeen outings, and along the way they won the Division Four league and are set to move up a grade next season.

Congratulations to Liam O’Connor, who took part in the boys’ game at half-time in Sunday’s All-Ireland football final. Son of underage mentor, Packy, Liam came through a rigorous qualifying series to make it to Croke Park.

The numbers drawn in last Tuesday’s lotto were, 1, 5, 21, 30. No jackpot winner. Consolation prizes went to Grace McCamley, Marian Martin, Rosemary Loughran, Tony McCrave, Una Dooley. Tonight’s jackpot is €9,400. Tickets available from committee members.
