Super Saints March to glory
ST Kevins were crowned U-16 Camogie champions on Saturday following an impressive win over a brave Blackrock/ St Brides combination team in Ballygassan.
Brides were first out of the trap but failed to convert and the opening 10 minutes was very close.
But a well taken St Kevins goal settled them down and they led by six points at the break.
The second half continued much the same as the first but St Brides /Blackrock, with a younger team, began to feel the pressure as St Kevins stretched their lead.
The last 10 minutes saw Blackrock/St Brides put the St Kevins goals under siege but some excellent goalkeeping and strong defence kept them out as St Kevins secured a 8-8 to 2-4 victory.
The cup was presented by Lorraine Young, Chairperson of the Louth Camogie County board who thanked the hosts, St Finbarrs and St Annes, who stewarded the event, and both teams for an exciting match.
