Oisin in the running
CLEAR skies and sunshine greeted the competitors on Sunday for the second annual Boyne AC 4-Mile Road Race, held in honour of club stalwarts Harry Mallon and Willie Connor who passed away recently.
There was a great turnout, both from athletes and spectators, and the two-loop course saw some great finishing times, with Anne Linden from Carrick Aces AC taking the first ladies spot in a new course record of 24:48, closely followed by last year’s winner Ciara O’Reilly from Drogheda & District in second (26:48), while Sally Clarke from Boyne took third in 26:56.
The men’s times were equally impressive, with a strong run from Brian McCluskey of North East Runners to win in 21:04. Oisin O’Gibne from the host club took second in 22:02, with Alessandro Porazzini from Balbriggan & District third in 22::30. Full results are available on www. myrunresults.com.

Oisin O’Gibne,Gibne, Tadgh Everittt Thompwinning Thompson (pictured right) was first junior male in 25:02, just ahead of Tom Cummins who was given the same time. Joe Carroll ran a great time of 27:12 to make up thewinning menmen’ss teateam, with Eva Cummins ccrossing the line in 2727:28 - second Boyne lady behind Sally SallyP Paul Clarke. Kirwan wawas next in wiwith a time of 28:07, followed lowfollowed closely by Cormac O’GO’Gibne in 28:115. Catherine rineCatherine TTiernan also crossed the line in 28:15, comcompleting the winning ladies team, with Gary Kelly close behind in 29:19.
