Megan Campbell
LIFE doesn’t get much better for a professional footballer than lifting a major trophy at Wembley and Drogheda soccer star Megan Campbell did just that when winning the Women’s FAI Cup with Manchester City.
Having just returned to the team after eight months sidelined through injury, the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international supplied crosses for two of the goals - scored by England defender Lucy Bronze and World Player of the Year Karli Lloyd - as the Sky Blues beat Birmingham 4-1 in front of 35,000 fans.
The result ensured English League champions City possessed all three main domestic trophies at the same time.
