‘Cars are not stopping at crossings in Bettystown’

-

BE IT the need for better paintwork or improved lighting, but drivers are not stopping at the pedestrian crossings in Bettystown, a local councillor has claimed.

Cllr Sharon Tolan told last week’s area meeting that problems had arisen at the crossings at the Neptune and Funtasia.

‘I don’t know if it’s the paintwork or the area is badly lit, but cars are not stopping. It could be that it’s close to a bend or the bus is stopping.’

Engineer Christy Clarke said that the lighting appeared fine, but they could be doing some re-alignment and that might help the issues into the future.

The councillor also asked for works to be carried out at the Gormanston junction as lines had faded.

The area also needed to be weeded and cleaned up and the engineer said that they would be discussing the matter with the Ashbourne district.
