Sad death of Patrick Flynn, Galroostow­n

PATRICK Flynn, a farmer aged 40, living at Galroostow­n, Termonfeck­in, Co. Louth, was drowned about 7.30 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day when he slipped and fell Into a pump-hole in his yard.

The deceased went to the well to get a drink for his pony and he must have slipped on ice at the edge of the hole and have fallen into the deep well. His wife missed him and, with the assistance of some neighbours, searched the pump hole. His body was then recovered from the well.

Deceased leaves a widow and seven young children to mourn his loss and deep sympathy is extended to them in their tragic bereavemen­t.

At the inquest, Mrs Julia Flynn, said she went for neighbours Johnny Branigan, Paddy Branigan and Maria Branigan when she couldn’t find her husband. Johnny Branigan found the body.

Patrick Magee, a railway servant living at Carigy, Dunleer, gave evidence of identifyin­g the body.
