ON the eve of his departure from Drogheda, the Very Rev. Fr. P. N. McCoy, O.S.A.. was the recipient of a most beautiful present from Mr. Tom Lynch of Cairnes’ Athletic.

Last season Tom Lynch was captain of the Irish juniors who played the English Juniors at Dalymount Park. Tbe International Cap which he received from this game was his most treasured possession. As a mark of his respect and admiration for Father McCoy, Tom decided to present him with his “cap.”

Father McCoy thanked him warmly for the “cap “which, he sald, would never as long as he lived leave his possession. The “cap” is known as the “six quarter cap” and is profusely decorated with silver braid: it is of green velvet, on the peak is the date—1936. above the peak is the word “Junior ‘ and underneath is “Ireland v. England “. All is done in sliver embroidery.

A large silver tassel hangs to the left side of the cap when worn. The inside is lined with red silk and embroidered on a white background of bleached fine linen is the following: ‘’Presented to the Very Rev. Pr. P. N. McCoy, O.S.A.. by Thomas Lynch, 1938’.
