Austin joins the board of director’s at Hugh’s House

-

LOCAL businessman Austin Clarke of Emporium World Of Furniture, North Quay, Drogheda has been appointed to the board of directors of Hugh’s House.

Hugh’s House is a charity organisation which provides accommodation 365 days a year to the families of children who are long-term in-patients of Temple Street and Rotunda Hospitals.

Everyone involved helps on a totally voluntary basis.

The house is run by a dedicated team of caring and compassionate volunteers and supporters and opened in May 2015.

It is located less than 5 minutes’ walk from both hospitals, which manage the referrals to the house.

It was developed after parents of ill children were forced to sleep on the floor of the hospital or in chairs often for months.

There is very little in the way of government assistance for these families in terms of accommodation costs and after the death of a little Dublin boy, his family set about securing a premises where families can sleep while visiting ill children.
