PEOPLE Before Profit TD Gino Kenny said he was delighted with the ‘incredible’ response he received during a campaign event in Drogheda.

It was the launch of the Louth /East Meath constituency awareness campaign, aimed at raising the profile of the party on a nationwide scale.

‘People are looking for social alternatives,’ he stated.

He has become well known in his fight to legalise cannabis for medicinal use.

His bill was recently rejected by the Oireachtas Health Committee, but he has vowed to fight on.

The case of Vera Twomey and her daughter Ava has hit the international headlines as Ava suffers from epilipsy and wants the medication proposed to help her. Gino has been fighting her case.

Local man Alex Baizert attended the event in Drogheda and said that he is being forced to break the law to keep himself from getting seizures.

‘ The law needs to change and the doctors need to help us,’ he stated.

‘ The use of medicinal cannabis is allowed in countries all over the world and people’s lives have improved as a result. What is wrong with this country?,’ he added.
