Court not ‘dummy run’ for insurance firms
‘I won’t have this court used as a dummy run by insurance companies,’ Judge Coughlan asserted, as he struck out charges against a number of local motorists.
His comments came as he learned that civil proceedings have been instigated in the cases after accidents occurred.
The judge said he won’t tolerate this practice, and admitted doing it himself as a solicitor.
Jennifer Lynch (36), 29 The Drive, Highlands, Drogheda, was accused of careless driving at The Highlands on 26 September, 2016.
Gerard M. Sheehan (54), 60 Fountain Hill, Mell, Drogheda, was charged with careless driving at Mell on 4 March, 2017.
And, Nabeela Jafri (42), 71 Fountain Hill, Drogheda, faced a charge of dangerous driving at Rathmullen Road, Drogheda, on 8 September, 2016.
All charges were struck out.
