Council disposes of land in Dundalk and Drogheda
LOUTH County Council is disposing of 1.5hectares of land at Marsh Road, Drogheda to Donal Kinsella for €125,000, councillors heard at their monthly meeting.
A parcel of land at Haynestown which had been acquired for the construction of the Dunleer-Dundalk Motorway is also being disposed of by the local authority for €37,000.
And 10.625 sq metres of land at Ladywell Terrace which was acquired in 1963 is being disposed of to Gas Networks, Ireland for €500.
Cllr Frank Godfrey commented that the land in Drogheda is near the D Hotel and ‘is very valuable property and would be ideal for social housing.’ ‘It’s in a terrible stage at the moment with the buildings on it in a very dangerous condition’ and being used by drug users. He asked that something be done to make the site presentable.
