•In the remaining quarter final Gaeil Colmcille produced a determined display to overcome Moynalvey 1-11 to 0-13. It is the third time in successive years that the Kells men have reached the semi-final.

Moynalvey led by five points at one stage in the opening half before settling for a 0-8 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Ryan Farnham scored the winners’ goal and it was full back Barry Smith who hit over the winning point.

O’Mahony’s Na Fianna 1-20 1-13

A CLOSELY contested hour’s football was followed by a one-sided 20 minutes of additional time as O’Mahony’s advanced to a quarter-final SFC clash with Summerhill following this preliminary quarter-final win at Trim last Saturday.

The sides were level on seven occasions over the hour, including half-time when they stood at 0-6 apiece. At the end of normal time it was 1-13 each, but O’Mahony’s showed an added dimension in extra time with seven unanswered points.

Na Fianna led by two points on two different occasions in the opening half, but with Stephen Bray and Dylan Regan in fine form O’Mahony’s were level at the break. Indeed they could have been well ahead but for several squandered opportunities - including a goal effort from Regan.

Regan, however, made amends within a minute of the restart when he found the Na Fianna net and O’Mahony’s eventually went four clear.

The Baconstown/Enfield outfit struck back with a goal from Sean Martin on 38 minutes, but O’Mahony’s were three in front following a brace of points from Paul Whelehan.

It was back level early in the fourth quarter before Daniel Queeney’s point put Na Fianna ahead. O’Mahony’s got back to open up a three-point lead, only for Na Fianna to respond and force the game to extra-time.

O’Mahonys had Ruairi O Coileain sent off in the closing stages of normal time but were restored to the full quota for the additional 20 minutes.

With Bray in outstanding form O’Mahony’s hit five points in the opening period of extra time. They closed out the game after that with further scores from Bray and Dylan Regan.
