-

CHILLY temperatures didn’t deter the athletes and supporters as they turned up in good numbers for the Bettystown 3k beach fun run the weekend before last.

Local juveniles, many of them from Cilles AC, and some from farther afield came out with their families to enjoy running on the beautiful coastline and the first three in each juvenile race took home trophies and there were well-deserved finishers medals for all those who crossed the line.

The first six athletes in both the male and female categories in the 3k run also took home trophies and again there were finishers medals for all who completed the course.

Cilles AC’s new club mascots Spongebob ‘Eloise’ Pants and ‘Anthony’ The Minion stole the show, keeping everyone entertained while they registered and waited for their race.

The club would like to thank had him well satisfied and he should go well in next weekend’s Novice Cross Country Championship.

Larkin really was mixing it with the big guns as the men’s race was won by Mick Clohessy who ran in the Rio Olympics Marathon. sponsors DC Networks and Vicks Clips, as well as St John’s who were on hand for any firstaid needs, all the competitors - and all the volunteers who helped put together the event.
