Brother Aristides makes golden jubilee

A function to mark the Golden Jubilee of Very Key. Bro. Aristides Donegan, O.S. J.D., and his great work for the Order of St. John ol God in France, England and Ireland was held last night in St. Mary’s Hospital, Drumcar, Co Louth.

A native of Drogheda , Very Rev Brother Aristides was the first Provincial of the Irish-English Province in 1930, and has been Provincial on many occasions since. He has also fulfilled the office of Prior at St. John of God Hospital, Stlllorgan, Co. Dublin. He was responsibl­e for the founding of St. Raphael’s, Barvin Park, Herts, and in 1931 he opened St. Augustines, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

The attendance at the function included Very Rev. Brother Eugene Qullligan. O.S. J.D.. Provincial; Very Rev. B. Grimes . P.P.. Togher; Rev. Bro. L. Clancy, O.S. J.D.. Rev. Brother Timothy Deane, C.S. J.D., Prior of St. Mary’s; Senator W. Woods. Chairman Louth Co. Council; Ald. L. J. Walsh, Mayor of Droeheda. Very Rev. Brother Quilligan said it was in no small way due to Brother Arlatides efforts that to-day they had a flourishin­g Irish Province.

MRS. Mary Donohue, Duleek, Co. Meath, who has died aged 65, has been principal at Duleek Girls’ National School for 30 years. A native of Collon, , she taught at Carraroe N.S. for a short period before being appointed assistant at Donore.
