Car sharing service Go Car expanding its base in County Lou th

-

GOCAR, the national car sharing service, has just launched a new base in Drogheda at the Train Station.

New partnerships with Irish Rail and County Councils throughout Ireland have made it possible for GoCar to expand its service, including GoCar’s new base at Drogheda Train Station.

This base at Drogheda Train Station is one of 16 new bases located at Irish Rail stations. The new Irish Rail bases will make it easier for commuters in Ireland to combine rail travel with car sharing and thereby embrace multi-modal, sustainable transport with reduced dependency on private cars.

In the last year, GoCar has doubled its fleet, members, and its monthly trip average. The company hopes to continue its service expansion and is seeking input from more county councils, including Louth County Council, to make car sharing available to everyone in Ireland.

Car sharing allows people to rent cars for as little as an hour, using a booking system to reserve the vehicle and in-car technology to unlock the car and drive. It is ideal for people who only need occasional access to a vehicle and also allows those who cannot afford a car the opportunity to drive on a pay per use basis. Fuel, tax, insurance and maintenance are all included.

There will be three vehicles available for hire in both Dundalk and Drogheda. Customers will pick them up/ drop them off in the spaces marked out in Fair Street, Murdock’s Car Park & Donore Road Car Park in Drogheda and Boyds Car Park, The Demesne (R132) and Bridge Street in Dundalk.
