WORTHY AWARD FOR BENNY

Dunleer’s great cycling fundraiser Benny Grogan was on his tandem bike again for the 3 County Cycle that raised over €2,500 for the ARC Cancer Support Centre. Benny teamed up with Marion Smith for the spin that started in Slane and took in the surroundin­g counties before finishing back in Slane. Benny received a special presentati­on in Donoghue’s Bar for his support for the ARC cycles. He also received a Louth PPN award for his support for visually impaired cyclist recently.

CIRCUS

Duffy’s circus is coming to the Lannleire Pavilion Dunleer on Saturday, September 30th with their show starting at 3 pm, Tickets available at the door.

The ever popular whist drives have resumed and the results for the first week are as follows: Top Score Frances Meade; top lady Ita Kennedy; top gent was a tie between Leo Collins and Dick Walsh. The first half winner was Mary Leonard and the second half winner was Maureen Thornton. Whist drives continue each Monday night in Bennetts. Musicians and singers are welcome any night to perform. Starting time is 9.30p.m. So, get there early. If you enjoy live traditiona­l music Bennett’s is the mecca for great music and craic.
