The first meeting of the new season was held last week with a full attendance. New President Joan Caffrey proposed a vote of sympathy with Mary Howard on the death of her sister Annie McGuinness. Catherine Moore was congratula­ted on her recent win at the Trim show. The competitio­n was for the nicest seashell collected over the summer and the winner was Nuala Carberry; Joan Caffrey was second and Bernie Fox was third. There was a demonstrat­ion by Yvonne Sheridan, make-up artist, of wedding and general make-up looks for the coming season; Bernie Whyte was the lovely model on the night. The group have planned an outing to Newbridge Silverware on 7th October next and welcome anyone who would like to join with them for the day; contact a member for further details. The next meeting is on Wednesday 11th October and is the annual Harvest Bring & Buy.

ARDCATH/CLONALVY PARISH WEEKDAY MASS TIMES

As and from the 5th of September the Tuesday weekday Mass will be in St John the Baptist Church Clonalvy and Wednesday and Friday in St Mary’s Church Ardcath. All at 9.30am. Thank you to everyone on your input to this decision.

FIRST RESPONDERS

The Ardcath/Clonalvy First Responders group would like to invite all residents in the area to a public meeting this Thursday 28th September in St. Patrick’s national school Ardcath. This informatio­n night is about the role of First Responders in the community; it will be given by Des Kelly from the National Ambulance Service and John Fitzgerald from CFR Ireland. This is very important for all in our community so everyone should try and attend this meeting. It could save your life!

We are holding our 5th Fundraiser on Saturday 21st October at 8.30 pm in Watters Lounge. “AN ITALIAN NIGHT” will be held with all proceeds going to the wonderful Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre. Special Birthday wishes are sent to Seamus(Pudgie)Finnegan who celebrated his 70th birthday in Watters Lounge last Saturday week. The always dapper Pudgie got a great surprise when he walked in to be greeted by a large gathering of family and friends. A brilliant night was had where the birthday boy danced the night away.
