Foster carers in Mid Louth and Drogheda needed

-

TUSLA Child and Family Agency is currently recruiting foster carers throughout Louth for children in the area and are currently in need of placements for children of all ages from newborns to 18 year olds.

They are seeking to recruit families who can provide respite, emergency, short and long term care to children and there is currently a significant shortage of placements in the Drogheda and Mid Louth area.

‘We are interested in speaking to people who can provide a safe and secure home for children. Foster carers are a diverse group of people who come from all walks of life,’ a spokesperson stated.

Foster carers can be: Couples – married, co-habiting, same gender. Single people – widowed, separated, divorced . People with disabilities – provided your disability or medical condition does not prevent you from caring for a child . People with or without children. People who own their own homes, are in private rented accommodation or local authority housing. Employed / Unemployed people. People from different cultures, ethnic or religious backgrounds. ‘Having carers from different cultures allows us to match children and young people with suitable families,’ they added.

‘We are looking for people who can provide a stable, nurturing and loving environment for children, relate well to and have respect for children, do not have a Garda record for violence, offences against children or other serious offences and are flexible, open and patient.

‘We provide ongoing training and support to our foster carers and value their significant role in caring for vulnerable children. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a foster carer please phone our office in Dundalk on (042) 9392201 and one of the team will be happy to discuss it further with you. You can also find further information in relation to the role, supports and payments for fostering on www.tusla.ie.’

They are also holding an information night in the Crown Plaza Dundalk on Tuesday 24th October 2017 at 6pm.
