Local artists part of Texaco exhibition
HIGHLANES Gallery on Laurence Street, Drogheda is the venue once again for an exhibition of the 126 winning paintings from this year’s 63rd Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
The official opening, to which this year’s winning artists together with students from schools in the Drogheda area and the North East region have been invited, will take place at 11am on Tuesday, 3rd October. Following this, the exhibition will remain open to the public each day from Monday to Saturday from 10.30am to 5pm until Saturday, 4th November next. Admission is free.
Amongst the 126 exhibits on show will be works by six Drogheda students who won top prizes in the competition. They are Lucy Finn (12) and Matilda Brennan (9), both from The Arthouse; Gabriel Sica (7), from Aston Village Educate Together National School; Katie Hajt (6) and Lauren Fearn (6), both from Rainbow Club Afterschool and James Moonan (11) from Aston Village.
Another top Louth winner is 17-years old Nathan Morgan, a pupil at St. Brigid’s Special School, Dundalk.
