David’s advice to buyers

SINN Féin Councillor David Saurin has urged first time buyers to consider Local Authority Mortgages.

Councillor Saurin was concerned that “In the current climate where many first time buyers are struggling to gain mortgage approval from the established banks and building societies, many people are unaware of this option from the Local Authority.”

Recent statistics show that the number of people who have successfully applied for Local Authority Mortgages has dropped from 40 granted in 2014, 22 granted in 2015, 21 granted in 2016 and just 4 this year to date.

Cllr David Saurin explained that “These Local Authority Mortgages are available to first time buyers who meet the necessary criteria and are not restricted to just local authority housing .
