Jimmy Madden was great Drogs man

DROGHEDA United has had many great fans down the years, not least Jimmy Madden who resided at 28 Thomas Street.

I was reading his life and times recently and Jimmy and it would be fair to say, he hardly missed a match during his time following the club, right up to his death in 1975.

He had been a prominent member of the Drogheda Supporters Committee and was a retired Labour Exchange official. A native of County Donegal, he had resided with his wife Mrs. Maura Madden at Thomas Street for many years and played a prominent part in many societies in the town. He was a founder member of the St. Peters branch of the C.Y.M.S. and also of the Drogheda Units of the Order of Malta.
