Muse of Yeats at Rossnaree House

-

THE 3rd annual ‘Muse of Yeats festival’ on the 7th – 8th of October 2017 celebrates the distinguished women in the life of Irish poet, WB Yeats.

The Curlew Theatre performs The Muse and Mister Yeats in the afternoon, and special guests are the Lost Brothers and Steve Wickham from the Waterboys.

Three distinguished speakers are scheduled for the day. Adrian Paterson, PhD will bring alive, “The Voice of Maud Gonne”, talking about the poet’s passion for his first muse. Yeatsian scholar, Joe Hassett talks about, “The Living Beauty: Iseult Gonne as Muse”.

These events bring the festival to life throughout the day and evening. A fresh lunch and a candlelit dinner from the kitchen of Rossnaree will be provided. Part of the festival fun will be the chance to browse the many stalls selling books and gifts.

The final speaker is Ailbhe Smyth, an inspiring Irish feminist and activist who will entertain with a rousing half hour titled “The Fight Goes On: Women, Politics and Culture”.
