Gardai and council swooping on stockpiles for bonfires
DROGHEDA gardai and the local authority are swooping on stockpiles of material destined for bonfires throughout the town.
An operation has been in place since June with the council’s environmental section.
Issues have arisen with some places giving out tyres to people, gardai keen to advise premises against such actions.
‘Bonfire material has been found and we have assisted the council in taking it out from estates’’ Supt Andrew Watters stated. ‘We will ratchet up the plan in the coming days.’
