Top local bloggers shining bright at the 2017 Irish Blog Awards at the Academy

THERE was success for local bloggers at the 2017 Blog Awards Ireland awards which took place in Dublin recently.

Nicola Cassidy from Drogheda picked up the award for the ‘Arts and Culture Blog - Commercial’ on behalf of Writing.ie

Also taking home a top award on the night was Patrick Hanlon from Louth, one half of the GastroGays alongside Russell Alford, who were awarded the highest accolade of ‘Blog of the Year’ having received the highest scores across all rounds of judge.

They also scooped the award in the ‘ Travel Blog - Personal’ category.

The award ceremony took place at the Academy in Dublin recently with over 400 guests in attendance to celebrate the best of the Irish blogging community. The hosts for the night were the Lords of Struts, who were finalists in the 2017 Britain’s Got Talent live shows.

This year, 5,000 blogs were submitted for the prestigiou­s awards with a total of 1,200 blogs making the longlist.

The judging included three rounds; the first two, which were voted by the public and the final round was judged by media/journalism and PR profession­als.
