Tough start for Louth and new boss McGrath

-

LOUTH will be well travelled under new boss Pete McGrath next spring as the provisional Allianz League fixtures list released last week threw up away trips to Cork, Tipperary and Clare.

With another away assignment in Cavan also on the agenda, it’s a real tough start to life in the second tier for the Division 2 newcomers and new manager Pete McGrath.

Almost inevitably the Reds open their campaign at home to Down on Sunday January 28th.

Coincidentally (or not!), Aidan O’Rourke also started his tenure at home to Armagh back in 2013.

But the tie of the campaign will undoubtedly be the visit of Meath to Drogheda in the penultimate round - if the Gaelic Grounds is still open at that stage!

Meath are also set for four away games, including the short hop to the Wee County.

They open the campaign against relegated Roscommon and also face trips to Cavan, Tipperary and Louth before the final group game at home to Down on Sunday March 25th.
