Kevin keeping up fami

- JOHN SAVAGE

KEVIN Carr warned his dad and brother Robbie that he’s hot on their tail after bagging his first Louth senior championship winners medal on Sunday.

‘My dad has won a few Joe Wards and my brother [Robbie] has one from 2013. I was still U-16 then, so this is my first and I have to try and play catch-up now.’

The Louth star showed a composure beyond his years, but the meotion of the occasion was clear to see as he hailed two of his and the Blues’ biggest fans.

‘I’m speechless. I can’t put it into words. Patsy and my grandad Des couldn’t make it today, but they’re at home listening on LMFM and it feels so special to do it for them.’

‘It’s been an unbelievable year. We lost the first five league games and after that we just didn’t know where our season would go. But once the championship comes the Blues are a different breed. The talent in the squad is unbelievable from one to fifteen and the whole bench, the lads there are just as good.’

Carr felt the goals were crucial and the first one in particular gave the Blues the belief to push on for victory.
