FORMER club stalwart Kenny McDonnell seems to have the midas touch after managing Duleek-Bellewstown to a Junior C title at Pairc Tailteann last Saturday.
Twelve months ago McDonnell was savouring success with St Vincent’s, Ardcath, after leading them to a Junior B Championship Final win over Moynalty.
Victory with his own club was particularly sweet for McDonnell, who said the blend of youth and experience proved a major factor.
‘It was some consolation for losing our senior status and maybe eight or nine of this team can kick on and play Intermediate next year and be battling it out in the knockout stages.
‘There are a lot of young lads coming through and hopefully we can get them bulked up during the winter and ready to play Intermediate football. Winning a championship is a great boost and it will keep them interested and focused for 2018.
