ROSSIN ROVERS ALBION ROVERS 0 2

A GOAL in each half secured another hard-earned three points for Albion Rovers as they stepped up their bid for a second consecutive promotion.

Pat ‘Mini’ Mohan’s men started brightly, creating chances in the opening exchanges but not really testing Eanna Mooney in the Rossin goal.

Rossin had a couple of chances from corners and free kicks, but Albion’s netminder Niall McDonnell was never forced into a save.

The first goal of the game came when Dylan Kirwan beat four Rossin players before he squared the ball back from the endline to striker Adam Gartland who did enough to finish from close range.

Albion eventually scored their second goal when Helder Mota unleashed one of his bullete-like long throws and it was this time met at the front post by Helder Goncalves who nodded the ball to the far corner of the net.

Rossin, who pushed James Butler into attack in the second half, had a couple of chances to get back into the game, but they found the Albion defence in top form.
