Private sites should be included in Donore estate

-

TWENTY new council homes are to built in Donore at a cost of €3.8m but local councillor Wayne Harding feels that provision should be made for locals who would like to buy a site in the vicinity of the new estate.

‘I raised before about the Reask and what a fine scheme it is but I feel some people are caught in the middle. They may not qualify for these houses but could provide their own house if they got a serviced site,’ he explained.

Cllr Meade said the need for serviced sites in Donore was vital. ‘People can’t get planning permission around Newgrange so there is a need for serviced sites.’

Council officials said the need for private sites in Donore was relevant but for the housing authority, the first priority was the social housing list. However they will look to see if there is room for private sites.
