Shortfall in funding of €2m to help renovate the homes at Alverno Court in Laytown

-

MEATH County Council are to press the department for a full allocation of €5.5m to take on the task of renovating homes in Alverno Court after only being awarded €3.4m.

They are due to talk to officials shortly to try and get agreement on an increased figure.

They feel the full figure vital before starting works.

Officials say they want the works to be a success before moving on to the wider Alverno Heights area.

Cllr Eimear Ferguson said she had raised it for over three years and was happy to see it being progressed.

Cllr Sharon Tolan said they needed to get Alverno Court right and ‘showcase it’ but asked if the process could begin and then look for the balance.

‘It’s 20 years and it’s still going on,’ Cllr Tom Kelly added, stating that the full finance was needed for the project. is
