Put plan in place urges cllr

-

EFFORTS need to be made to find out why people become homeless and that appropriate addiction services be delivered in those cases.

‘If people are homeless they can’t make calls to services’, Cllr Sharon Tolan stated. ‘We need to identify the number of people struggling with addiction and mental health issues and put a plan in place.’

The council said when people declare themselves homeless, details are taken in relation to ages, reasons, etc.

30% said there had been addiction issues, 29% had lost their home and 16% had mental health issues.

‘It is not just a housing problem and it is important to work in tandem with the HSE’, a spokesman added.
