‘Couch surfing’

THERE is no provision for people ‘couch surfing’ and it’s something on the increase, Cllr Eimear Ferguson feels.

‘ They have nowhere to go when the goodwill is exhausted,’ she told council housing officials. She said she had met people living in cars who had ‘exhausted’ their stay in homes of friends. ‘ They are going to be on the list,’ she stated.

Officials said that the longer people can get help from friends, the more chance they have of getting their own place.
