People can’t afford to heat mobile homes

-

PEOPLE living in mobile homes in Bettystown and Mornington are not eligible for council homes because they own a home.

Cllr Tom Kelly raised the plight of some people who cannot afford to heat their mobile home and that they should be given some help to pay bills. ‘But they are told they are not eligible’, he stated.

He felt a policy was needed to assist those who cannot sell their homes.

The council said that people in mobile homes ‘own a property of sorts’ and thus are ineligible for housing, ‘ but it is a unique situation.’
