Paramedic was punched in face

-

A 20-year-old student, who punched a paramedic who came to her assistance, has had an assault charge struck out at Drogheda court.

Judge Coughlan made that order after Eleanor Aspell, 233 Ballsgrove, Drogheda, paid €500 compensation to the victim.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge which resulted from an incident in the D Hotel, Scotch Hall, on 8 August, 2016.

Evidence was given an ambulance was called to the hotel, and paramedics went to one of the rooms, where Aspell was ‘in difficulty’.

As they tended to her, she jumped from the ground, and assaulted a female paramedic by punching her in the face.

Solicitor, Paddy Goodwin, said his client was very drunk at the time, and had a drug problem.

However, she is now engaged in a beauty therapy course in DIFE.

The court also heard from Aspell’s father, who said she is doing very well at college.
