Five month term for two assualt charges

A five months sentence has been imposed on Patrick Ward (34), 2 Mill House, Bridge Street, Ardee, after he pleaded guilty to two assault charges.

Drogheda court heard the defendant is presently serving a sentence, and is due for release on 18 February, 2018.

Garda Kevin Conway gave evidence that on 21 May, 2016, a man heard noise coming from the back of his house in Beechwood Drive, Dunleer.

On investigation, he saw a shed door open, and two men carrying his bikes away.

These men were pursued by the owner and another man to a house in Ravel, Dunleer.

When they looked for the bikes back, a number of people came out of the house, and the assaults occurred.

Judge Coughlan imposed a five months sentence.
