Armagh test for Drogheda club

-

Boyne Rovers v Carranstown A. DROGHEDA & District Road Bowls Club head to Armagh this coming Saturday to take part in the Dessie Fields (RIP) Trophy competition against the Moy Road Club.

The silverware was presented to the Drogheda club after Dessie’s demise, in remembrance of the many great bowling Sundays he spent on the Clogherhead road.

The team of eight will comprise two sets of four players - rated A and B - and the competition will be fun but also very hard-fought. All-Ireland Novice 2 champion Peter Clinton will throw for Drogheda, along with Alan Long, PK Kirk, Noel Carr, JP Clinton, Mick Flood and others.

The Reid family of Bambrook Hill fame in Armagh have been very generous in presenting a cup for which the ‘B’ players will throw - from both Drogheda and Armagh.

Anthony Carr and Eamonn Nugent will represent Drogheda in the Gerrard Reid Cup competition. This trophy, up for grabs for the first time, was presented to the club and is called after the late Gerrard Reid.
