THE Sunday/Friday mid-week competitio­n has been carried over.

There were no entries for Saturday’s final 18-hole event of the season and we now move onto our 12-hole stableford Winter competitio­ns.

Saturday next 28th October our popular 12-hole stableford White Elephant competitio­n takes place followed by a social evening with finger buffet and draw for Surprise two-Lady team event the following Saturday. Please bring a wrapped gift to the value of €15. No entry fee for White Elephant.

The Ladies agm will take place on Friday 1st December. Nomination sheets for 2018 are posted in the locker room together with sheets for topics and suggestion­s.

WEEK three of the Turkey League took place last week and it was an 18 nett competitio­n.

The Grade 1 winner was Owen Smith with a score of 41 nett, Darren Dooley took the Grade 2 Prize with a score of 43 nett (ob9) and the hole-in-one prize was won by Pádraic Sarsfield.

Week 4 of the competitio­n will be an 18 gross and times of play are tomorrow (Wednesday) and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

SEAPOINT was deeply saddened when we heard the news that our friend and long-time member Tommy Murray passed away suddenly earlier this week.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Week four of our turkey competitio­n, an 18 gross, produced some good scores, in spite of Storm Brian sweeping up the east coast. The results were as follows:

Senior: 1st Michael Bedford 45 (ob9 23), 2nd Gerry Breen jnr 45, Whiskey winner Darren Fagan 44. Inter: 1st Frank Penders 48, 2nd John Curran 49. Junior: 1st: Ray McEvoy 50, 2nd John Kelleher 51. Ladies: 1st Lilly Fallon 53, 2nd Margaret McCabe 55 (ob9 24).

It’s now week five of the turkeys and this competitio­n will be an 18 nett - times of play Friday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 9.30am and 2pm.

Also taking place on the Bank Holiday Monday will be a fourball v par competitio­n - times of play 9.30am and 2pm.

TOWNLEY HALL

JOHN Coen won last weekend’s nine-hole re-entry turkey competitio­n with 21 points and the mid-week winner was John Foley who got 22 points.

October 14th/15th competitio­n: 1st Mick Foley 22pts, 2nd Larry Clarke 20pts. The mid-week winner for that week was Robbie Lloyd.
