MONSTER DRAW

SLANE Community Centre Committee launch a major fundraisin­g initiative, a monster draw, in the Conyngham Arms Hotel this Saturday, 28th October between 7pm and 9pm. The draw which will be a limited draw has a prize fund of approx €80,000, including cars, holidays and cash prizes. The committee are hopeful of selling 2,000 tickets at €100 each. Everyone in the parish is invited to the launch and lend their support to this worthwhile initiative.

HALLOWEEN HUNT

THE annual Hill of Slane Halloween Hunt takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, October 30th, starting at the Slane playground at 3pm. The cost is €2 per child, adults free. Prize for the spookiest costume, and goodie bags for the kids. All entrants will be entered into a draw for a family pass to The Enchanted Kingdom in Slane Castle. POINT-TO-POINT

DEVENISH will host the 2017 Point-to-Point & Country Fair at Dowth, in conjunctio­n with the Meath Hunt and Tara Harriers on Sunday, October 29th. The feature will be the Anglo-Irish Point-toPoint challenge as top Point-to Point jockeys from Ireland and Britain go head-to-head in what will likely be a hotly contested challenge race.

A new addition for this year is the Equipet Dog Show. Popular categories will include classes for best family pet, best toy dog, dog most like its owner, best dressed dog, best junior handler, waggiest tail, and the overall prize for the best in show.

Great racing, country fair exhibits, artisan food, free family fun, shopping village. Gates open at 11am, first race 12.30. Admission is €12 with children under 12 free.

COMMUNITY GAMES

SLANE Community Games are seeking parents/ volunteers who can give time to help out with their events in the year ahead. All those interested are invited to a meeting this Friday evening, October 27th. Further details can be had by emailing slanecomga­mes@gmail.com

FANCY DRESS DISCO

SLANE Wanderers soccer club have organised a Kids Fancy Dress Disco in the parish hall on Bank Holiday Monday, October 30th, from 6pm to 9pm. Costume prizes and scary dancing for 4 -12 year olds. The cost is €5 per child and tuck shop will be open.

TORBO TRAINING

TURBO training organized by Slane Spinners continue on Thursday evenings at 8pm in Slane Youth Café. Open to everyone and all are welcome. Turbos can be supplied. Further details from 087 1123103.

KNITTING/CROCHET CIRCLE

A KNITTING/Crochet Circle has started in Monknewtow­n Community Centre on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 9pm. Come join us for knitting, crochet, chat and a cuppa. Share skills and create masterpiec­es, all welcome.

DRAWING SESSIONS

SLANE Life Drawing sessions take place every second Sunday evening, from 6.30 to 8.30. Cost €15 per session, all levels welcome, bring your own art supplies.

ENCHANTED KINGDOM

BOOKINGS are presently being taken for the Enchanted Kingdom at Slane Castle. Father Christmas, Mrs Claus & head elf, Elf Jingle along with a host of others will once again be staying in The Enchanted Kingdom at Slane Castle this Christmas Season 2017.

Families will venture through The Enchanted Kingdom amongst a host of festive scenes before meeting the main man himself Santa Claus.

ROLLER CYCLE

CYCLIST from the Slane area are invited to come along and support the annual 24 hour roller cycle event on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd December, at Foleys Arch in Watergate Street Navan. Once again proceeds from this event will go to the ARC Cancer Support Centre. ARC offers numerous services like therapy support and counsellin­g to people with cancer, their families and relations regardless of where they live. East Meath Production­s presents the panto “Robin Hood & the Babes in the Wood” in the Droichead Arts Centre Drogheda from 6th to 10th December next. CHESS IN BETTYSTOWN

ANOTHER DEFIB

The East Meath cardiac first responders (E.M.C.F.R) have installed a new defibrilla­tor in the Grange Rath estate in Drogheda after a fundraisin­g campaign in the Grange Rath estate. Grange Rath is quite a large estate with

over nine hundred houses. The EMCFR have also installed defibs at the Lime kiln in Julianstow­n, The Alverno hotel in Laytown, Pat’s Centra in Bettystown and Harry’s Centra in Mornington. All defibs are located outside of these premises to facilitate easy access to the public.
