Donacarney path badly needed

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

MEATH County Council say that a footpath from the schools in Donacarney to Whitefield Manor remains top priority - and they might be able to afford it if they got more fundjng.

Cllr Sharon Tolan said the subject had to be raised again because people ‘can’t safely use the road.’ (right)

She said the project needed to be progressed as students had received letters about the parking and traffic situation and were being

encouraged to cycle to school where possible to help ease the sometimes chronic situation at the front of the schools.

Engineer Christy Clarke confirmed the path was ‘ high priority’ and they had flagged it for funding.

Director of Services Fiona Lawless said they’d love extra funding for something like this but hadn’t gotten any in the last four years.
