Progress on plans for Greenway as Louth and Meath in talks
PLANS for the Boyne Valley Greenway were raised in a parliamentary question to the Dail last week and the NTA has said negotiations between Louth and Meath County Councils are ongoing.
Negotiations to advance plans for the Boyne Valley Greenway to the planning approval stage, a spokesperson for the National Transport Authority (NTA) said.
Consultants have also been appointed by Meath County Council (MCC) to complete a preliminary design for sections of the Boyne Valley Greenway,.
The NTA said consultants have been appointed to carry out a design for areas including The Ramparts in Drogheda towards Mornington in East Meath.
‘Preliminary designs have been prepared for the section between the Ramparts and Drogheda town centre which includes linkages to the town’s bus and train station,’ said Hugh Creegan, Director of Transport, Investment and Taxi Regulation.
Responding to a query from Deputy Fergus O’Dowd, who had submitted a written parliamentary question on the matter, Mr Creegan said the alignment of the proposed route traverses the jurisdiction of both Meath and Louth County Council and negotiations between the local authorities with a view to advancing the scheme to the planning approval stage are taking place.
