Owners find intruder in their home

GARDAÍ in Drogheda are investigat­ing two break-ins which happened on Friday, October 27th last, including one in which the owners came home to find a person in their house.

The first incident happened at a house on Duleek Street some time between 1pm and 9pm.

The front door of the property was forced and a small quantity of cash was taken from a number of locations around the house, including the kitchen and the bedroom.

The owners of the property were away at the time.

Anyone with any informatio­n or who may have spotted anything suspiciuos in the area last Friday is asked to contact Drogheda Garda Station.

On the same date, the resident of a house in Rivercourt in Drogheda returned shortly after 8pm to find an intruder in the house.

The person left to get help and when they returned the person in the house had fled and a number of items were taken, including a quantity of cahs and some jewellery.

Entry to the property was gained through a rear patio door which had been forced.

A car parked at the Fairgreen in Drogheda was broken into on the same date, sometime between 11pm that night and 3am the following morning.

The front passenger window was smashed and a number of small items like keys and a torch were stolen.

Meanwhile, it has been a busy bank holiday for gardaí locally with a number of arrests in the area for drug possession and drink driving.

Seven people were arrested over the weekend after they were found in possession of small quantities of drugs following stops and searches around town.

In the division as a whole there were 11 arrests for drink driving over the weekend; four in Drogheda, one in Ardee and six in Dundalk.

Two houses were damaged following wheelie bin fires in the Rathmullan area sometime between Friday night and the early hours of Saturday, October 28th.
