ALBION ROVERS OLDCASTLE 5 0

ALBION Rovers fine run of form continued with a five-star display against Oldcastle.

Mini Mohan’s men have now only conceeded once in their last six outings and from the off they controlled this game.

Their first chance came after only 30 seconds after great work down the right from young Sam Kelly to find Adam Gartland whose effort was touched wide by the goalkeeper.

Next chance fell to the ever impressive Evan Corlett who beat two players with his blistering pace but saw his effort sail wide of the right hand post.

Albion then took the lead after 10 minutes when Corlett’s shot from 25 yards rebounded to Gartland who this time made no mistake from 12 yards out.

Niall McDonnell was a spectator in the Albion goal as all the play was in the other half of the pitch.

Albion added number two on 15 minutes when Kevin Kelly and Helder Goncalves combined down the left and Goncalves found Sam Kelly at the back post and he finished to the roof of the net from six yards.

Albion added another before the break when Corlett beat the offside trap and the on-rushing goalkeeper to finish to an empty net taking his tally to seven in four games.

The second half didnt start great for Albion as after five minutes their goalkeeper Niall McDonnell got his marching orders after having words with Referee Joe Dyas.

Luckily manager Mini Mohan had the experienced goal keeper Tom Kavanagh on the bench to come on, unfortunately Gartland was the one to be sacraficed.

However even with 10 men Albions midfield of Jack Reynolds and Steo Martin calmly controlled the game picking out the right pass every time.

Albion were not finished the scoring just yet.

An Albion corner from the left was met with a bullet header from young Gary Maher to make it 4-0.

And the scoring was rounded off by debutant Barry Faulkner who was played in down the left flank beat the last defender before he buried the ball to the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Best on the night for Albion was Reynolds, Corlett, Gartland and Man of the Match Sam Kelly.
