LouthPPN launchnew FirstAid trainingin ArdeeCS

-

In Ardee Community School last week, Louth PPN launched their first aid training initiative for secondary schools. Recognising the value of lifesaving skills in our community, funding has been secured again to offer this training to 5th/ Transition Year students in 2017/2018. Last year saw 394 students participating in Louth.

The course will enable the students to be prepared to act in an emergency or possibly life-threatening situation. Knowing what to do, before an ambulance arrives, can be the difference between life and death. The learning acquired will be of benefit to the students at home, school, sports grounds, within the wider community as well as in their future workplace. First aid training provides for safer practices, which in turn assists in reducing further injury to those affected by accident or sudden illness.

The small time invested in developing the skills and knowledge will produce a lifetime of advantages for the participants. Enhanced communication, team working and leadership skills among the students is another benefit from the training programme.

Louth PPN commends the work of the paramedics in providing this training to the youth in our community. Louth PPN is the first county to take this initiative in secondary schools. For secondary schools wishing to avail of this training in 2017/2018 please contact Mary Capplis on mary.capplis@louthcoco.ie or 042 9335457
