Licensing applications must be up to scratch
JUDGE Coughlan has warned he will start refusing licensing applications if they are not up to scratch.
At the start of Drogheda court on Friday, he remarked that the standard of licensing in county Louth is ‘very low.’
The judge added he hasn’t refused any applications yet, but advised solicitors, if there is a problem, to get a barrister to look at it before coming to court.
Otherwise, he said he will refuse applications.
‘ The reason I haven’t is there will be repercussions, and obvious embarrassment for practitioners.’
Judge Coughlan said the same goes for Dundalk and Ardee courts.
