-

CLOGHERHEAD RNLI assisted Skerries RNLI with the rescue of two people from a submerged fishing boat early last Thursday morning.

The service was launched at 5:30am on Thursday following reports of a razor boat in extreme difficulty. The vessel had been operating close to the mouth of the Nanny River, near Laytown. Skerries RNLI also responded to the callout and on arrival rescued two people from the partially submerged fishing boat.

The crew of the casualty vessel were uninjured and taken to safety by Skerries Lifeboat. Clogherhead Lifeboat retuned to base shortly before 7 am.

Commenting on the callout Gerry Kelly Clogherhead RNLI Volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer said, ‘ This was a fantastic rescue by our colleagues in Skerries RNLI and we commend them for their swift action. RNLI lifeboat volunteers work together to save lives along our coast and this was a great example of that teamwork.’
